Many times, if someone is having a rough day, he’ll complain about how badly things are going.
For example, David wakes up too late to eat breakfast at home, so he grabs a protein bar to eat in the car on the way to work. He bangs his knee getting into his car, so it’s throbbing as he works his way up, slowly, through traffic and gets there 15 minutes late, so he has to deal with his supervisor, since this is not the first time he hasn’t shown up on time. Next, he works all day at a job he despises. On the way home, he runs out of gas and has to wait for 45 minutes for a tow truck. By the time he gets home that night, David is crabby, so he calls his friend to gripe.
This is a basic example of someone not counting his blessings to realize all he has. First of all, David was born in a modern Western country and was raised in a middle-class family. He has running water, electricity and a car to drive. He also has a job to which he was to show up late without losing it to someone younger.
